What Does a Clinical Nurse Aide Do?

Clinical Nurse Aides (CNAs) play a vital role in providing essential patient care in a variety of healthcare settings. Their responsibilities include: 

  • Direct Patient Care: Assisting patients with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting. 
  • Vital Signs Monitoring: Taking and recording vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respirations). 
  • Basic Patient Care: Assisting with bed baths, turning and positioning patients, and providing basic wound care. 
  • Patient Comfort: Providing emotional and social support to patients and their families. 
  • Communication and Documentation: Communicating effectively with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team, and accurately documenting patient care.
